The monastery at Monte Cassino provided an ideal postion to block Allied supply lines during the invasion of Italy. Defending it were german paratroopers, the Fallschirmjager, the Wermacht's most elite troops. After many hard and bloody battles, the battle was finally won by the American 442nd Nisei Division.
